Our client is a prominent real estate company specializing in the acquisition and management of commercial and residential properties across Canada. They are among the most active buyers on the market in Canada, solidifying their position as a major player in the industry with a series of strategic acquisitions.
What Is Our Client Looking For?
Our client is looking for a Lawyer to join their rapidly growing team. The Lawyer will handle real estate transactions, due diligence, and document preparation, and play a key role in ensuring that transactions run smoothly, deadlines are met, and all documentation complies with legal requirements.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Assist lawyers with real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and financing matters.
- Conduct preliminary due diligence, including title searches, reviewing property documents, and identifying potential issues.
- Draft, prepare, and organize legal documents, such as purchase and sale agreements, leases, mortgages, and ancillary contracts.
- Maintain accurate records of transactions, correspondence, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with clients, notaries, lenders, and other stakeholders to ensure timely completion of transactions.
- Track deadlines and manage calendars to support lawyers in meeting critical timelines.
- Conduct legal research under supervision to support complex transactions.
- Assist in preparing internal reports, closing binders, and transaction summaries.
- Support compliance and risk management efforts by reviewing documents for completeness and accuracy.
Skills & Qualifications
- 2-6 years of experience in commercial and/or real estate law, preferably in a transactional setting.
- Diploma or degree in Paralegal Studies or equivalent; training in real estate law is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of real estate documentation, contracts, and filing procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in French and English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal document management systems.
- Experience in both commercial and residential real estate transactions.
- Familiarity with civil law principles as they apply to property transactions across Canada.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced legal environment.
