What Is Our Client Looking For?
Our client is looking for a Project Manager, Commercial Construction to join their growing team. This individual will oversee tenant improvement, renovation, and capital improvement projects across a portfolio of commercial retail properties.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Manage multiple tenant improvement, renovation, and capital improvement projects across a portfolio of commercial and retail properties.
- Oversee projects from initial planning and budgeting through construction and final closeout.
- Coordinate architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and vendors throughout all phases of construction.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are achieved.
- Monitor project budgets, review invoices, track expenditures, and identify opportunities for cost control.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, quality, and compliance with project specifications.
- Review drawings, scopes of work, change orders, contracts, and project documentation.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including operations, property management, leasing, and finance teams to ensure project objectives are met.
- Manage relationships with tenants, landlords, consultants, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify project risks and proactively develop solutions to minimize delays and cost overruns.
- Ensure projects comply with applicable building codes, regulatory requirements, safety standards, and company policies.
- Prepare & provide project updates, reports, and status summaries to leadership.
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience managing commercial construction, tenant improvement, renovation, or capital improvement projects.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining budgets and schedules, while simultaneously coordinating contractors, consultants, architects, and other project stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, project scheduling, budgeting, and contract administration.
- Ability to review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and change orders.
- Significant experience in commercial construction, with a strong preference for retail projects on the landlord or tenant side.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel across Canada as required to oversee projects.
