What Is Our Client Looking For?

Our client is seeking a Senior Construction Project Manager to join their growing construction team. This individual will oversee multiple commercial construction projects across Canada, overseeing the full project lifecycle from planning and procurement through construction and final delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving project execution while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple commercial construction projects simultaneously across Canada.
  • Lead projects through all phases, including planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and close-out.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, cash flow forecasts, and risk registers.
  • Coordinate and manage architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Prepare tender packages, lead procurement activities, evaluate bids, negotiate contracts, and oversee contract awards.
  • Administer construction contracts and monitor contractor performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify project risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor project costs, review change orders, approve invoices, and ensure financial accountability.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, quality, safety, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Ensure projects comply with applicable building codes, regulations, and company standards.
  • Prepare and present project status reports to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, consultants, contractors, municipalities, and ownership groups.
  • Mentor and support junior project managers and project coordinators.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within project management processes and construction operations.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8-10+ years of commercial construction project management experience.
  • Owner-side or construction consulting experience is preferred.
  • Proven experience managing multiple large-scale commercial construction projects simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, procurement processes, tendering, contract administration, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Experience working with CCDC contracts and industry-standard construction documentation.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing project budgets and cost controls.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel regularly throughout Canada.
