What Is Our Client Looking For?

Our client is seeking an experienced Corporate Controller with strong IFRS expertise and a proven track record leading financial reporting, compliance, and accounting operations within a complex, growth-oriented environment.

Tasks & Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & IFRS Compliance
  • Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
  • Review property acquisition, disposition, and financing agreements to evaluate accounting impacts, identify complex IFRS and IAS 40 considerations, and ensure accurate and timely recording of related transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies.
  • Monitor emerging IFRS developments and assess their impact on the organization.
  • Assist SVP in managing external audits and coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain robust accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Business Partnership & Strategic Support
  • Act as a trusted business partner to residential and commercial segment accounting leaders.
  • Provide financial insights to support revenue growth, margin improvement, cost optimization, and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Translate complex financial information into clear, actionable business recommendations.
  • Support the development and execution of business strategies through data-driven analysis.
Financial Operations & Controls
  • Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, and month-end close processes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting across all business units.
  • Strengthen internal controls, risk management processes, and governance frameworks.
  • Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements to improve efficiency and reporting capabilities.
  • Assist in managing cash flow forecasting and working capital optimization.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the corporate accounting team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance accounting literacy and decision-making throughout the organization.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting designation required.
  • 8+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including public accounting experience, preferably with a Big 4 firm.
  • Strong expertise in IFRS reporting, financial statement preparation, and technical accounting.
  • Real estate industry experience is considered an asset, including application of IAS 40 (Investment Properties).
  • Experience supporting senior executives and operating within complex, multi-entity or multinational environments.
  • Proven experience in FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and strategic financial planning.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial reporting, treasury, controls, compliance, audit, and governance frameworks.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, financial reporting tools, advanced Excel, data analytics, and dashboarding solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience building, mentoring, and developing high-performing finance teams.
  • Strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, analytical capabilities, and decision-support skills.
